White Ribbon Day

White Ribbon is the UK’s leading charity engaging men and boys to end violence against women and girls. Portsmouth City Council is a White Ribbon Day accredited organisation, which means the council shares White Ribbon Day’s mission, aim and focus and is committed to ending violence against women and girls across our city.

  • Their mission: prevent violence against women and girls by addressing its root causes.
  • Their aim: change long established, and harmful, attitudes, systems and behaviours around masculinity that perpetuate gender inequality and men’s violence against women
  • Their focus: White Ribbon UK’s work is preventative; they want to end violence before it starts.

Saturday 25 November 2023 is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against women and girls, also known as White Ribbon Day. From 25 November until Human Rights Day on 10 December, is the 16 Days of Action. Find out more.
