Weekly update – 5 November 2021

Action between the sheets…

Between the sheet pile lines that is! With a major part of the work at Long Curtain Moat being the installation of pre cast granite and limestones units, ‘Action between the sheets’ will be a regular feature in the update for the coming weeks. So far we have installed 22 granite apron units and six limestone wall units. In the photo to the left you can see the team infilling with concrete to maintain stability of the pre cast units once they are in place.

Historic walls hiatus

With all the wind and rain recently, work on restoring the historic walls has been on a temporary break. But, hip hip hip hooray, the sun has got his hat on so the team are right back in the thick of it to return the artefacts to their former glory for all to see.

Parapetting Portsmouth

We have received the first delivery of concrete parapet units. These will sit on top of the steel pile walls through Frontage One to finish the look of the wall. When you are standing on the new promenade, the wall will be about a metre high – so you will still be able to enjoy the view of the busy waters of the Solent.

Art of the possible

‘A Collaborative Arts Plan for Southsea and Portsmouth’ will run from 6-13 November, daily from 10am-4pm, in the Dulverton Room at The D-Day Story, Clarence Road, Southsea.

Twenty local artists will feature in the display, with their work having a strong connection to Portsmouth and its unique history. Read more.
