Weekly update – 5 March 2021

It was a case of history repeats this week as we continued exposing further parts of the historic structure to the west of the Spur Redoubt. As always, our on-site archaeologist was present. Historic England reviewed the mortar and limestone masonry sample for the new wall trial panels, and we are pleased to advise that these have been accepted. We extended an existing outfall pipe through the new sheet piles on the east side. The old pipe was broken but has now been repaired and is helping to maintain the water flow. Please note that we will be working on Saturday 6 March from 7am-1pm to concrete around the outfall pipe. This will involve low level noise so should not cause issues for nearby residents. Still on the east, we continued tie in works adjacent to Clarence Pier, putting concrete up against the pier to tie it into our works. Sheet piling continued along the front seaward pile line, going from west to east.
