Weekly update – 3 September 2021
Sheet piles, that is… A VIP came to visit the Southsea Coastal Scheme this week and caused much excitement. We now have our very own town fox, found exploring and resting between the sheet pile walls. We will look out for future photo opportunities of our latest recruit.
In good form
Formwork (a mold) and a soffit (mold to form the support of the underside of a structure) and reinforcement steel known as rebar continues to be fitted at the east side of the Spur Redoubt for the concrete pours. This will create a capping beam (horizontal beam to further secure the steel pile wall and to finish the look of the defence wall) from the Spur along to Clarence Pier.
Construction of the egress (emergency exit) steps at the west of the site (close to the Saluting Platform) is in full flow, with more reinforcements being laid in preparation for the next concrete pour.
Southsea Coastal Scheme gets Victorious
Thanks to everyone who stopped by at Victorious for our wave tank demonstration – it was great to meet you all!
