Weekly update – 28 July 2023
It’s the sound of the under ‘pin’…
Here’s plant operator Dave conducting underpinning works on the historic wall near Southsea Castle. This involves filling gaps with parts of grey concrete block to improve its foundations and stabilise the wall. The grey concrete block will be covered by our pistachio-coloured promenade slab while part of the brick will remain visible. We’ve recycled some of the Edwardian stone from site to tie in with the existing wall. We do this in lots of small sections so that there are parts of the wall always supported while the work is taking place.
Talk of the town
Our summer roadshow kicked off on Wednesday and we were delighted to see so many of you on the common outside our Pier Road offices. Join us at the next one which will be in front of the rock stockpile near Southsea Common on Wednesday 2 August between 11am – 2pm. We look forward to seeing you there.
We are Considerate Constructors!
We’re extremely proud to say that we scored 45 out of 45 for our recent Considerate Constructors inspection, as well as being awarded two additional points on top for examples of best practice. These inspections take place every six months and we always endeavour to be considerate towards our environment, community and workforce.
Strength in numbers
We’ve installed 21 T-walls in front of the bandstand. In addition, we’ve finished 53 of 86 promenade slabs above and below the ‘Theatre of the Sea’.
