[caption id="attachment_5574" align="alignnone" width="300"]steps A step in the right direction[/caption] We've nearly finished installing the stepped revetments (concrete step units) which will connect the new promenade to the beach on Frontage 5 (Pyramids to Speakers' Corner). We are now 90% complete, having installed 127 of 141 units. The slightly lighter coloured units you can see in the photo are where there is sloped access to the beach. There will be four slopes, including one which is a double unit for the lifeguards to use.
BandstandAnd it was called yellow…and blue!
The refurbishment of the bandstand is coming along nicely now. The whole bandstand has been primed and the top coats of paint are underway. The Pompey blue is once again on the roof with a nice bright Pompey yellow star and crescent, with the sides to be painted white as before. So, we will soon have a sparkling bandstand!
rubbishRubbish...
Monday 22 April was World Earth Day and the Southsea Coastal Scheme team took to the beaches of Eastney to do a beach clean. A lot of plastic cups, bottles and other items were cleared away leaving the beach pristine for the next ‘wave’ of visitors!
Jon MarathonBorn to run!
A massive well done to our Operations Director Jon after he conquered the London Marathon this week. Jon ran for British Heart Foundation and raised over £4000 for this amazing cause! Time to put your feet up now.
