Weekly update – 9 December 2022
Ain’t no stopping us now…
With only a few weeks until we open early in the new year, it’s all about the finishing touches at Frontage 1 (Long Curtain Moat). As we continue to finish filling the last parapet units, the focus is on all things timber: completing the timber bridge, installing balustrade handrails and cladding the terraced units with timber to create new seating.
No rain, no rainbows
Although the recent rainy conditions are not great for concreting work, one of our colleagues on site was able to capture this wonderful rainbow over Frontage 1 (Long Curtain Moat) – silver linings!
(Precast) units uniting
At Frontage 4 (Southsea Castle) we are now preparing to install the terrace units that will make up the ‘theatre of the sea’ stepped revetment around the castle. Further west, the precast units for our new sea wall continue to be placed and we are now approaching the area by Blue Reef aquarium.
Christmas jumper Day
This week saw Christmas Jumper Day, Save the Children’s annual event which raises money for children in the UK and across the world. The photo shows the Southsea Coastal Scheme team in their finest Christmas gear and an amazing £50 were raised for Save the Children.
Run, Rudolph, run!
Congratulations to Molly & Parsa from our team on completing the annual RNLI Reindeer Run. The event helps to raise vital funds to help the RNLI continue to save lives at sea. Well done to all who took part.
