Castle Field to provide refuge for Brent Geese
23rd September 2020
Here comes the rain again!
It takes more than a few showers to stop us and work this week mostly went ahead as planned.
Temporary fencing is up on Castle Fields to provide a winter refuge for migrating Brent Geese. This will be replaced by permanent ‘deer fencing’ soon. On Monday we expect decoy geese to be installed.
The footpath along Long Curtain Moat will be closed from 12 October. Diversion signs are in place.
Works to complete the foreshore access ramp at the eastern side of the beach will begin from 12 October, and we will be accessing the beach from 14 October. This date has been set to ensure we align with the Marine Management Organisation (MMO) notification period.
We’ve continued stripping and compacting topsoil at our Pier Road main compound and permanent offices are expected to be delivered at the end of November. Permanent office units are now installed at our Clarence Pier Car Park compound.
