Update from the scheme – 5 September 2026

Work is progressing well on Frontage 5 East, where teams are preparing for the next concrete pour using innovative basalt fibre reinforcement. Made from volcanic rock, the material is highly durable in marine environments and reduces carbon emissions by more than 60% compared to traditional steel reinforcement.

A major milestone has also been reached with the completion of the first phase of heavy lifting operations. The 100-tonne crane that has been installing the large precast concrete sea defence units has now moved on, having played a key role in transforming this section of the seafront.

Elsewhere, new beach access ramps and future seating areas are beginning to take shape, giving a first glimpse of how the completed promenade will look and function.

Residents can also find out more about the next phase of the project at our upcoming engagement event at CourtX on 23 and 24 October.
