Work continues at the Hovertravel junction, where changes are being made to improve traffic flow and make it easier for drivers, cyclists and pedestrians to move through the area. The updated layout will include dedicated lanes for the car park and Hovertravel, a clearer cycle route connecting to the new seafront cycle path, and a new pedestrian crossing.
Elsewhere, significant progress has been made between The Briny and South Parade Pier, with 89 of the 116 new promenade slabs now installed. New planting areas are also taking shape, with foundations and drainage systems being prepared ahead of future landscaping and lighting installation.
Residents can now receive live project updates through the Southsea Coastal Scheme WhatsApp channel, providing timely information on access changes, traffic management and construction progress.
Looking ahead, work on the next phase of the scheme, between Speakers’ Corner and St George Road, is due to begin in spring 2027. Residents can find out more at the next engagement event at CourtX on 23 and 24 October.
