Meet the Team : Nicola Reid
Planning Officer – ESCP
I lead the co-ordination of the planning application and interface with our statutory stakeholders for the Southsea Coastal Scheme.
After dabbling at being a librarian for the University of Southampton, I completed a BSc in Environmental Protection at Bournemouth University, loving every module but especially those on planning and environmental law and coastal processes. After graduating, I started working as a Planning Technician for Eastleigh Borough Council, working my way up to Senior Planner in the Major Applications Team. Alongside dealing with planning applications, I became the lead planner for HRA issues, trained new Councillors and kept the planning team fuelled with a constant supply of cupcakes!
I left EBC after ten years, to gain experience of private sector planning and worked for Vail Williams as a Planning Consultant for around a year. I then wanted to use my degree for the good of the environment which I now have a chance to do with the ESCP!
Outside of work I play percussion in a brass band, having played at some very prestigious venues including the Royal Albert Hall, I make silver jewellery and bake bread/cupcakes. I also love the water, swimming in the sea as often as possible and have just started kayaking.
